Studio.Art.Lab is a Montréal-based creative education initiative dedicated to making the arts accessible to all ages and abilities. Rooted in textile traditions, craft practices, and hands-on making, the studio offers workshops, classes, and creative experiences that bring people together through the act of creating.
Our programs serve youth, adults, and seniors through studio courses, mobile workshops, and thoughtfully designed art kits that can travel into schools, community spaces, and senior living facilities. Whether someone is threading a needle for the first time or deepening an existing practice,
Studio.Art.Lab creates a space where process, experimentation, and personal expression are valued.
Founded by costume and fashion designer and educator Elisabetta Polito, the studio grows from over fifteen years of experience in arts education and professional design. The vision is simple: to build a welcoming third space where creativity strengthens confidence, community, and resilience.
At Studio.Art.Lab, we believe that art is not a luxury - it is a powerful tool for connection, reflection, and belonging.

Many people want to create but lack access to materials, instruction, or welcoming spaces where they feel comfortable exploring their creativity.
Studio.Art.Lab was founded to bridge that gap.
By offering affordable workshops, mobile programming, and creative kits that can travel into schools, homes, and senior living communities, we are building a space where creativity is shared across generations.
Our goal is to remove barriers to arts education and foster environments where process, curiosity, and personal expression are valued.
Studio.Art.Lab exists to make creative education accessible to everyone. Through hands-on workshops, textile practices, and interdisciplinary art experiences, we provide welcoming spaces where people of all ages can learn, experiment, and develop confidence through making.
We believe the act of creating strengthens connection, resilience, and a sense of belonging within our communities.
Studio.Art.Lab offers hands-on creative workshops designed for youth, adults, and seniors at all skill levels. Our sessions focus on accessible techniques that encourage experimentation and discovery.
Workshops may include textile arts such as embroidery, sewing, weaving, and fabric collage, as well as drawing, painting, and other craft-based creative practices. Programs are offered in our studio and through mobile workshops that bring art directly into schools, community centers, and senior living facilities.
Each workshop is designed to be welcoming, structured, and deeply engaging - creating space for participants to slow down, focus, and experience the joy of making.

At Studio.Art.Lab, creativity is not reserved for a select few.
It is a shared human instinct.
We believe that everyone deserves access to spaces where they can create, explore, and develop confidence through making. Art should not be limited by age, background, experience, or financial barriers.
Our goal is to build an environment where people feel welcomed, supported, and inspired to engage with the creative process.
Studio.Art.Lab is designed as a third space -a place beyond home and work where community can gather through creativity. In this space, youth, adults, and seniors work side by side, learning from one another and sharing knowledge across generations.
Through workshops, mobile programming, and creative kits, we work to remove barriers to arts education and create opportunities for people to experience the power of making something with their own hands.

Studio.Art.Lab is deeply committed to creating inclusive and equitable learning environments where individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and learning styles can access meaningful creative education.
Our organization was founded on the belief that creativity and craftsmanship should be accessible to everyone, regardless of economic background, academic ability, age, or personal circumstance.
Our programs are intentionally designed to support diverse learners, youth, adults, and seniors, including individuals who may not always thrive in traditional academic environments. Through hands-on textile arts, sewing, and craft-based practices, we create safe, welcoming spaces that encourage experimentation, self-expression, and confidence-building.
Creative making also supports mental well-being, mindfulness, and social connection, which are especially important for participants who may experience isolation, anxiety, or barriers to participation in other settings.
Studio.Art.Lab prioritizes accessibility through flexible teaching approaches, intergenerational programming, and culturally responsive storytelling through textiles and craft traditions.
By bringing people together around the shared act of making, we foster empathy, respect, and community belonging.
Equity and inclusion are therefore not only part of our policies but are central to the design, delivery, and long-term vision of our programs.

At Studio.Art.Lab, the value of creativity lies in the process.
Learning to work with your hands requires patience, experimentation, and curiosity. Mistakes become discoveries, and unexpected results often lead to new ideas. By focusing on process rather than perfection, participants are encouraged to take risks, explore materials, and build confidence through practice.
This approach allows creativity to feel accessible rather than intimidating.

Creativity connects generations.
Studio.Art.Lab intentionally brings together youth, adults, and seniors to share space and creative experiences. When people of different ages learn alongside one another, knowledge flows in both directions. Skills, stories, and perspectives are exchanged in ways that strengthen community and deepen understanding.
These moments of shared making help build meaningful connections across generations.

Working with your hands creates a unique form of focus and presence.
Textile practices such as stitching, weaving, and embroidery encourage a slower rhythm of attention. As hands move through repetitive motions, the mind often enters a quiet state of concentration where ideas, memories, and reflection can surface.
In these moments, creativity becomes more than a skill—it becomes a way to connect with ourselves, with others, and with the stories we carry.
At Studio.Art.Lab, we believe that the simple act of making something by hand has the power to bring people together and strengthen a sense of belonging.
