A Letter from the Founder

Studio Art Lab Program

For as long as I can remember, making has been how I understand the world.

Thread, fabric, drawing, quiet repetition — these were never just creative acts for me. They were ways of processing, surviving, connecting, and remembering. Making taught me patience when words failed, focus when life felt loud, and confidence when I didn’t yet know who I was becoming.

For nearly two decades, I worked as an art educator in the United States, teaching fashion, textiles, and design to young people navigating their own identities, pressures, and futures. Again and again, I watched what happens when someone is given time, tools, and permission to make without fear of getting it “right.” Confidence grows. Focus returns. A sense of self begins to take shape.

Studio.Art.Lab was born from that truth — and from a longing.

After returning to Montréal, I felt a deep pull to build something rooted in access, care, and continuity. A space that wasn’t school, and wasn’t home, but something in between. A third space where creativity could be practiced as a way of being, not performing. Where making could belong to everyone — children, adults, elders — regardless of background, skill level, or confidence.

This is why I chose to build Studio.Art.Lab as a nonprofit.

Because meaningful creative spaces should not be limited by circumstance.
Because art should be accessible beyond institutions and expectations.
Because creativity is not a luxury — it is a human need.

Studio.Art.Lab exists to hold space for process. For hands-on learning. For shared attention. For the quiet, powerful act of making something with care. Through studio classes, mobile programs, community partnerships, and curated kits, our work meets people where they are — in schools, in community spaces, in senior living facilities, and at home.

This is not about producing perfect outcomes.

It is about confidence, dignity, resilience, and belonging.

Studio.Art.Lab is my offering — shaped by years of teaching, making, listening, and returning home. It is built in honor of the belief that what we make carries who we are, and that when we are given the space to create, we begin to see ourselves differently.

Thank you for being here.
Thank you for believing in process.
Thank you for helping this dream take shape.
